My story
We at KIHEFO Ugganda are organizing this fund raising to raise money in support of the Elton John AIDS Foundation’s mission to end AIDS for all.
As a Partner in the global AIDS community, KIHEFO Uganda is committed to overcoming stigma and discrimination, and reaching those most vulnerable to HIV, including the LGBTQ+ community, young people and people who use drugs.
Since its inception, KIHEFO Uganda has served over 20,000 people living with HIV AIDS. We have HIV/AIDS CLINIC that specifically supports people who leave under fear of discrimination. Comercial sex workers both females having sex with men and men having sex with men. We treat them for sexually transmitted infections and we have initiated them of pre exposure prophylaxis with ARVs because they at a higher risk of getting infected with HIV. WE have recruited them as peers to reach out to others. We need financial support to scale up the peer outreach and also the resource center where they meet to interact to play games and share experiences with counsellors. We ensure that HIV positive clients have their virus suppressed and those HIV negative do not get infected. We believe everyone at risk should have equal and fair access to HIV care and services. We reach out to rural communities through mobile clinics and recruit mor clients who are leaving under fear of stigma to come up and join their peers. We need to recuit more health workers to support this initiative. We also need logistical support in terms of transport, HIV testing kits, medicines to treat sexually transmitted infections and more indoor sports equipment for the resource center. Elton John Aids Foundation has reached over 100 million people with HIV and AIDS education, prevention services, testing, life-saving treatment, and compassionate care.
By supporting our fundraiser, you’ll be contributing to the Foundation’s Rocket Fund to supercharge their global efforts.
